Finally, I've finished reading one of the book I've bought on my 30th birthday - THE CAREER CODE-. This book was written by Hillary Kerr & Katherine Power - the creators of WhoWhatWear.com.
The Career Code had explain so many tips and tricks, reality that actually happened especially in the corporate world. Something that won't be talked in your daily life with your colleagues but it is crucial! I have immersed in every bits of their writing and imagining myself in all of the situation explained. You may look at the content list through the photo below;
I know, the font were so smol,
Let me help to list down all of the topics discussed in the book:
1. Find something you love to do, and then figure out a way to get paid for it
2. Your resume speaks before you do, so make sure it's articulate
3. Interview like a boss
4. Social media should help you, not hurt you
5. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have
6. When in Doubt, err on the side of formality and professionalism
7. The most proactive people win
8. Resourcefulness is next to godliness
9. Avoid death by (mis)communication
11. It's who you know that gets you there, and what you know that keeps you there
12. Quantify your worth
13. Hire well, delegates better
15. Manage you stress like its your job
16. "That not my job"
17. Your last Impression is the only one that counts
together with a BONUS:
27 life hacks to make you more efficient, effective and happier (Your life less stressful!)
Here are the snippets of the book;
My POV (point of view): content-wise: highly recommended to all novice executive who just make a leap into the corporate world. Yet, the content were also relevant to all walk of life since so many take away related to our daily life. Besides, this book is also suitable to all manager-wannabe as it gives solutions and tips from the bosses eye= what should be done, and why things happen that way.
Presentation-wise: The material is very good, glossy paper at very good price - bought at BookXcess and certainly best for your money! The vibrant and fancy color throughout the book showing the personality of the writer and the vibe that they wanted to highlight- enthusiasm- I loved it! However, the font size quite irritating- so smol as I have to reread a sentence for few times to catch what the writer is writing.
I will always revisit this book later on if for any situation to handle in the future. That is all from me, hope it benefited to all readers. Thank you!
xoxo,
Iba
